I think that there's also room to have an Assassin's Creed set sometime during the American revolutionary war - plenty of shenanigans regarding secret societies forming, and decentralisation of power. A perfect playground for Templar hating assassin's.
This could then possibly expand to the American civil war and culminate with the assassination of Lincoln, who turned out to be a bad guy or something.
With the French Ubisoft developing the game, it will likely not turn out to be a gushing piece of American patriotism, and the Brits will probably come off looking cocky and obnoxious (similar to the character Shaun Hastings from AC2 and brotherhood).
