syco, laser idea sounds good in principle, only snag is dogs tend to stare at anything that moves. So the criminals won't break in, cause there will be nothing to steal! It will all be lasered into little cubes.
I can recomend the German Shepards as well, we have 3 and have had no break in's in the past 20 years. Grim, if your really interested I can give you a number for the owner of the German Shepard club. She is in Cape Town but she knows all the breeders in SA and will be able to reccomend you the best breeder. Expect to pay between R2 - R5k for one and females sell fast so if you want one you need to "book" one from a breeder asap.

Speaking of burglaries we also had a break in over the holidays. Happended 6:00 am one morning. Lucky the sob can't drive, that's what we and the police assums. Reason for thinking like this is he took only the hdtv,gps,mom's handbag and dad's wallet. Didn't take any of the pc's,xbox,blueray player or my sister hdtv that was still in a box in the living room. Lucky he couldn't get to any of us since there is a maxi door between the front part of the house and rest.
He did take the car keys but only to go through the cars, took the gps out of my mom's car and left my dad's and brother's car key laying there. Or we assume that's why he took the car key, my car keys was there but it seems he never took them and never unlocked my car since nothing was take, had some cd's and a nike sunglasses in there. He could have easily take one of the cars and packed them up, that's why we assume he can't drive.
Parents heard the dogs barking but assumed it was guys meddling with the trash because that happens regularly on a wednesday, it was a wednesday.
What makes this worse is after cancelling all their cards, two weeks later gps(the security service we use in the area) finds my mom's handbag with all her cards and my dad's cards dumped close to the local school.
