The beta start this spring, so my guess is the game proper wont be out until at least end of the year.

What better way to market DOTA2 then too starve players of any real game content for 9 months, then show it all off via $1 Million Dollar tournament via live-streams. When DOTA2 was announced on gameinformer, they had 2.5 million website hits on the first day.

16 of the top current DotA teams in the world. DOTA2 so far seems to following the exact changelog as DotA, unlike HoN it's gonna be a pure 1:1 copy with added features and obvious graphics improvements.

The top 16 teams have all received the game to practice for the tournament. Obviously they are not allowed to reveal any information due to non-disclosure contracts. Who would want to jeopardize their shot at $1,000,000 anyway?

It's actually a genius marketing stunt. They probably spend more money on TV/movie ads for their games, and this will probably get much better results.

it does seem like superpowered marketing strategy, if they do sell dota 2... and now i understand why they using valve engine, then they gonna make a TON!! of kaching!!! like 1 miliion sale on 1st day; so what one million to them considering they'll earn money from that too, if u gotta pay entrance fee.
