Wrong driver it seems if its artifact. So go back a few drivers see if that sorts the problem.

Ahhhh okie dokie :p still artifacting tho, reaching of tempreatures of 100+ degrees

(yes the fan is spinning >< with an additional 2 fans on top of it)

Is the fan speed kicking up when the temp hits 90 degrees? What i mean is does the card start getting loud. 100 degrees is way too high, it should idealy max out at no more than 90 when the fan should kick into overdrive in order to keep the temp in check.

Nope stays the same speed even at uber degrees, oh well guess ill get a new one, but the bright side to this i got a free frying pan :D

Just jokes most prob gna use it for a physics card

100 Degrees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh and !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My 8800Gt (the one just under yours) starts artifacting when it goes above 75 Degrees.

Download Nvidia System tools. This should unlock overclocking and fan speed settings in your Nvidia control panel. Under Performance --> Device Settings.
Also try another driver if this doesn't work.

Don't know if this will work but it worked for my overheated GTX280. My stock voltages on the card is 1.18 and it was running over 100C under load 100% fan speed. I lowered the voltages to 1.075 for under load and for power saving 1.02 and my card running furmark for 20min about 80C and that is even with a extra overclock.

Get the program called MSI afterburner and try that first untill you are 100% sure it's stable then you can override the bios with new settings. Please provide us with more detailed specs.

1. CPU and CPU cooler
2. What case are you using?
are your 9800gt fan speed on 100%?
3. Is your pc gramped in a corner or near a wall
4. is your case pulling enough air in and air out (out can be more than intake)
5. How many fans installed on your system?
6. what motherboard are you using?

Good thing its still under warranty. It looks like the culprit is the fan thats not spinning faster when the temps get high.

set the fan speed to manual the auto setting on the nvidia cards are stupid they get very hot n they only hover around 40% - 50% still, so set the fan speed to 100% when playing hectic games like crysis.

How old is the card? I'm guessing not that old since its still under warranty. Stock out of the box with zero overclock, it shouldn't be hitting 100C under load. 90C, maybe 95C on a very hot day (like the heatwave we had recently). Reaching 100C makes me think that it may be a manufacturing fault on the card.

Better to just send it in on warranty.
