Hey guys im looking at buying a Sound card..budget is around R600 i know its not a lot but I really don't wanna spend more than that;)

Any advice will be much appreciated:D

If you can still find them the Sound Blaster Audigy4 is a good buy. Got myself one years ago and it's still going strong.

I haven't seen anyone selling them tho. But then there's been a strange lack of Creative sound cards available from suppliers these days.

Yep, another vote on the Audigy card, best bang for your buck.

I see Asus has some nice cards too, well they are pricey is what I mean... :)

If your budget is only R600 why not just stick with onboard?? Personally I don't think a R600 sound card is going to be much better than on board.

I agree with Stefan9. What are you using the soundcard for? if it's just general use then just stick with onboard sound. If it's for music production or anything related then you're going to need more than R600 ;)

I have an Asus Xonar.... totally worth the money :D
R600? It's not much, might aswell get an Audigy2 somewhere cheap

Sorry guys, if you find a new Creative soundcard congrats, but i hear via the PC distributors that Creative products have been discontinued in the country, Something about creative been liquidated... I could be wrong but i couldnt get stock of a few products including sound cards for a while now.

It does i wanted a creavite Fatality gamer soundcard, staying with my onboard for the time being... There is also an issue for some of the warranties that cant be honoured.

I would say go for a creative sound card if you can still find one, rectron is still doing the low end x-fi extreme gamer sound card and the high end elite pro.... but i have a creative x-fi fatality fps and wow.... huuuge difference.. i gotta admit. havnt heard the asus sound cards though.. i see their high end boards are starting to shop with creative sound cards as well
