How could we help?

I've currently used:

Shaped account: 900ms
Unshaped account: 600ms
Shaped with gamepath: 350ms
Unshaped with gamepath: 250ms

thanks, but what do you get without gamepath and using the leatrix fix ? (note that you can remove it afterward which you should do before using something like gamepath)

How it works technically? I'll try explain the basics.

When you're connecting to a game like Aion, your connection goes through several networks until it reaches the physical servers.

There is no optimisation around this connection, it just gets routed around as it goes based on current network loads, and after numerous jumps (which add the latency) it reaches it's destination.

What gamepath do is host a server (they have them all over the place, I connect to a UK one), and optimise that servers routing to obtain the fewest jumps possible between their network and the Aion server.

So the only lag you'll get is between you and the gamepath server (which will be hosted on fast lines and backbones etc) and after that the jumps are minuscule.

So it's this:
(you) A -> B -> C -> D -> E (Gamepath) -> L (Aion server)

Instead of this:
(you) A -> B -> C -> D -> E -> F -> G -> H -> I -> J -> K -> L (Aion server)

There's alot more technicality to it, but that's the fundamentals.

If you had read JKR's explanation above, it would have explained it to you quite clearly. As far as a basic explanation goes, it's quite excellent.

Short explanation - it basically shortens the route between your PC and the host server, meaning less latency. Dot
 
Sooo. Do you have to pay for gamepath?
Also seeing as how I'm about to buy the game and am currently downloading patch 1501->1506 and I knw the retail client comes as 1500 where do I get the 1500->1501 patch? (Locally if u can im currently capped :o

Try the local MMO downloads thread on Mygaming, afaik the current client version is 1.5.0.10

They give you a trial period (30 days? Never used it), after which it becomes a monthly paid service.

I'm not bothered by the ping ... my latency sits at about 800ms ... not great, but the game is still playable.

I'll probably feel serious pain when I get to pvp though.
 
I see you're selling your xbox too?

If I wasn't quitting my job at the end of the year - I'd definitely get it off you - prob is, I gotta shell out for Windows 7 soon ... :(

Anyways - back on topic ... I'm not sure about the lowping services just yet - want to see how NCSoft reacts on the topic first. Or have they made a proper statement regarding that.
 
Hmm wow I'd love to have that acc xD

Anyway people help me out here. Ive been scouring the net trying to find 1.5.0.0 - 1.5.0.1 patch so I can use the one I got grom do gaming. So I found it and unfortunately ITS HUUGE. Do i have to download it??
 
Doesnt the box come with 1.5.0.0?

I never checked, since I had the client already when the game launched ... it was 1.5.0.4 by that time already.
