AM3 Motherboard & DDR 1333 Pricing

Read "System Builder's Guide" @NagOnline to get some more info on what route to choose, might here and there be over your budget but if you have some goodies of your old pc which you can use in the new build then you might trim some randelas which can be used elsewhere...?

Also in these guides you sorta future proofing your "new" build with the latest goodies on offer whether it be AMD or Intel...

Thanks for your input.

With regards to using equipment from my old PC - that's a definite No. Don't want its hassles or memories. Only want to use my HDDs (obviously).

Only parts I'm actually going to continue using from my old PC would be my:

* Keyboard
* Mouse
* Mousepad (unless I can get a better mousepad)
* Hard drives
* Monitor (currently in use)
* Speakers (currently in use)
* PSU (new one I bought recently and barely used)
* Headphones

Other than that, everything is going to be brand new. Like a new beginning for me. Leaving my old PC life behind. Will be using my new PC to help with studies (online research and so on), then old PCs, my dad has, as practical training.

I want something that's going to last me the next few years, and is a decent gaming rig for a gamer/casual gamer, like myself.

I could have gotten EXACTLY what I wanted, if my contact in Cape Town was willing to help me. Would have been a HUGE help! But fuck it! I'll have to maybe make sacrifices (excluding a GPU from my budget).

You've basically got all the essentials so its just cpu, mobo, ram and gpu...

If i were you I'd stick to the old case as well and save up some moola and replace it afterwards...?

Just play nice with dad (meaning bend over backwards for him somehow lol!) and just maybe he'll spew some more...?

Problem with my old case is; I got so pissed off with my PC giving me a lot of kak (literally everyday), that I one day completely lost my temper and went apeshit with the side panel of the case and started to violently bang it against the case in frustration, depression, anger and the hatefulness I felt towards my PC. Felt like karma was harming me intentionally without reason. Long story short - side panels are damaged (the Left one mostly - not so much the right).

I'd been having some serious bad karma with PCs over the last couple of years. Software malfunctions without reason. Hardware stops working (USB port fucked up while playing Splinter Cell: Conviction, so I had to switch back to my mouse and keyboard). USB ports sometimes randomly stopped working -- and lots of other random occurrences -- and naturally I was blamed for parts breaking, but they break before I further moered the kak out of them.

Anyway, enough of my morbid PC history.

I'll see what strings I can pull; how many arms I can twist to get what I want.

Where online ordering is concerned; my dad isn't very inclined to want to do orders over R500+. Delivery to the Northern Cape can incur many problem. If I'd been living in Cape Town, he'd be more inclined to order, as, if any problems should arise, you're the place of business and can get issues quicker and more easily resolved. That is why we want to buy retail; so that we pay upon receiving the goods, and it's from a guy that knows my dad, and has good business with in the past.

Below is the list of parts which I plan to buy from the local supplier:

CPU:
Intel Core i3-4130 3.4GHz
(R1649)

Motherboard:
Wibtek B85-M PCID LGA 1150 Socket
(R949)

RAM:
Apacer 4GB DDR3 1333MHz
(R579)

Graphics Card:
Gigabyte GeForce GT640 OC 2GB DDR3
(R1249)

Tower Case:
Coolermaster Elite 311 ATX (No PSU)
(R399)

----------------

Total: R4429.00 (excl. Tower Case @R399)
Total: R4828.00 (incl. Tower Case)

Just hope I can get all or most of it.

Good luck with the new build bud!

Thank you.

Excluding the tower case and YouTube videos that have more than convinced me this build will work -- I'm very much looking forward to my upgrade. Should have it within this month (next 2 weeks or so).

I got my stuff sorted now.

Can James or any other Mod close this thread please - as I have been sorted and no longer require information, help or guidance from this thread.

Thanks to all you've contributed and helped me along the way... I do appreciate all your efforts.
