Anyone using Windows 8 ?

Thanks AJ but I looked for that and my Cell C connection has no such settings, only my LAN connection... anyways, getting uncapped soon so I'm not going to worry for now

I moved from Windows 7 to Windows 8 a while ago and I haven't had any problems with it. Yes, the metro UI takes some getting used to, but I've actually come to like it and as for compatibility with software and games, I haven't run into any major issues there either. I must say that I've found Windows 8 to be much faster than Windows 7, and weirdly enough I get higher fps in quite a few games.

I am contemplating wether to upgrade to 8.1. I like the speed and how my games work better on it, but I wish there was the nice glassy windows aero on it.

Give it some more time still too many things that is not working correctly.

Like?

Been running 8.1 since 1st preview (Now on retail) and its way better than 8 or even 7 in my view. Just pop on classic shell and it rocks.

I skipped 8 as I had issues with some games, now fixed in 8.1.

Had issues where .net would randomly not want to do anything so everytime I try to launch a game from steam it would not launch since its trying to install .net.
Also antivirus went haywire since its not supported yet.

Wireless connections just disappearing. Bluetooth devices not connecting properly. Went back to 8 and everything is fine again. Will try it out a few months from now again.

Odd, I have not seen a single one of those errors...Must admit, installed .net and DXwebsetup manually before I even installed Steam so might be that?

Anti-virus I can understand, been using MSE for some time now (included now as Windows Defender)

Wireless might be driver related as my TP 23 works like a charm.

Thanx for the reply, was wondering as its the 1st in that I hear of problems. Done 82 pc's (5 home) installs so far without a glitch.

Maybe since you did the install those people don't play around?

For me, Windows 8.1 felt a lot more stable than 8. ALL my drivers worked no problem with 8,1 where as with windows 8, my touch pad driver didn't work, and I would get the black screen issue after logon with Windows 8. It feels really fast, uses a lot less RAM than Windows 7 for me and my games worked faster. Also I loved how they changed the search feature and made it easier to search (CTRL + S).

I just want the Windows 7 Aero Glassy look with Windows 8.1. I had Start8 installed on Windows 8,1 - but I removed it later on, found it was better without Start8.

I know how to get Windows XP theme on Windows 7 (Using custom themes and a theme patcher). If I can find a theme patcher that works with Windows 8.1 as well as a Windows Aero theme pack for Windows 8, I will gladly move without any hesitation :)

Some of the guys at work got PC's with Windows 8 preinstalled. I do tech support and obviously need to assist them, but feel kinda stupid when I need to assist them and struggle to find the most mundane of things.

Got the ok from my manager and have ordered Win 8 Pro. Will get it this week and start getting stuck into it. Used the trail version before but I didn't feel like getting into the OS with a only n 3 month trail.

So we'll see I guess. Love Wndows 7, best Windows OS since Win XP.

Just install classic shell, I do that for all the Win 8 PC's I install as well. Will make your life sooo much easier, both in support as well as getting users use to it.
