Paying over a grand for a mouse mat... that shines?

How often do you forget where you put your mat in the dark, you won't trip over this one. :)

I'm curious, is there a real advantage to having a keyboard like the Razer Tartarus Chroma or the Cyborg S.T.R.I.K.E 7? It makes sense to a degree that your hand placements must be better, but from the little bit of esports I've been watching now that Flex has peaked my interest seems to show that none of the professional player use systems like this. And if they brought you so much advantage, surely these guys would use it? And if there is no advantage, what the bloody hell is the point of them, or are they just overpriced garbage?

But is it any better than using a normal keyboard? For me, a normal keyboard is perfectly fine, plus it can type [-]pornhub[/-] pink fluffy unicorns into Google no problem. That thing doesn't look like it would be a typing device...

hahaha!

That's because it's a gaming device. not made for typing :p

you don't throw away your normal keyboard. this is an add-on

But to answer your question, yes. it is A LOT better than using a normal keyboard. I can't game without it now. changed my life it did. one of the best things I have ever won

Professional gamers tend to use mechanical keyboards I believe. High-end mechanical keyboards have decent anti-ghosting technology that allows you to press keys extremely quickly without limiting precision.

Mechanical keyboards also have really durable key switches and make awesome typewriter noises:D

Now that makes more sense, yes.

Also, from the article, I would kill to have a Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS

It all depends on what kind of games you play. Certain keyboards and mice are made for a certain kind of Genre of Gaming.
You will see all MMORPG and Strategy games like Dota, Starcraft, WoW and those games have keyboards and mice that ave lots of bindable buttons.

But for FPS Games such as BF, CS and so on, you don't need tons of extra buttons.
You want something that is very responsive with as little delay as possible and as accurate as possible. So they are usually quite "minimalistic" compared to some of the peripherals that are available out there.

I hope that makes sense and helps

True yes! And with mechanical keyboards you have different switches. Each switch has different pressure required for it to be pressed down and activated. I have the Cherry Blue MX Switches. They are very loud and not "light" at all. So I can't accidentally press a button without knowing it, it is also DAMN loud.
