Thread Killer MKII
So after seeing the...well that thing on the front page I decided to do a proper thread about current graphics card pricing and what deals to look out for.

GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 970 WINDFORCE 3X Edition + Corsair Force LE 120GB
GTX970 that comes with a fantastic cool and quiet cooler, generally a great overclocking card like most Gigabyte cards. Comes with free Corsair 120GB Force LE SSD. Great upgrade bundle.

GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 960 OC Edition 2GB
Coming in under R3900, the cheapest of the "Mid" range cards. These cards offer great value for money. They are cool, quiet, use very little power and will run most games perfectly fine at 1080P. I've had 1st hand experience with the GTX960, as my girlfriend uses one in her pc. She plays Ark Survival evolved, Diablo 3, Rainbow six siege and a few other games, all with decent settings and no issues at all.

GIGABYTE Radeon R9 380 4GB G1 Gaming Edition
Solid all round card this. The cooler is great and it's quite a handsome looking card. Gaming performance will be great at 1080P and it should run most games with a mixture of high settings.

GIGABYTE Radeon R9 380X G1 GAMING Edition
The 380X is roughly 10-12% faster over the 380, this particular card is even faster, again offering great cooling, a handsome cooler and Gigabytes excellent 3 Year local Warranty.

I was going to mention the Sapphire Nitro 2 GB card here, as it comes in under R4000 but I think the Gigabyte R9 380 4GB is better value for money, as it offers more memory and a slightly better cooler for only R300 more.

I wanted to include the R9 390 in this segment as I do feel it's really good value for money. Unfortunately the EVGA listed at the top of this list comes in at under R6000, that's a good R500 less than the nearest R9 390. All the cards in this list was picked specifically for their excellent gaming performance and value for money. They all come with 3 year local warranty which is a huge bonus.
I know some people will ask why I didn't add any of the power color cards to the list and the answer is quite simple. They only offer 2 year warranty, there are no local suppliers for them so they are treated as grey stock and they generally don't hold their value as well as a local card.
If I were to recommend 1 I would most likely say the PowerColor PCS+ AXR9 390 is a decent card, it comes in at around R5700 which is fairly decent but again that 2 year warranty is a bit of a let down. Performance will be slightly less than a GTX970 in 1080P and roughly the same in 1440P.
i wanted to talk about the ultra high end cards but honestly it's not the right time to buy with the GTX1070 and GTX1080 less than a month away. Bare in mind that both these cards will be rather pricey but they'll offer the absolute best performance for the money.
I'll have a look at entry level cards tonight and do a post about them in the morning.
