A draft bill banning alcohol advertising will be submitted to Cabinet soon, a Cabinet committee said on Friday.

You'd think they have better stuff to do :/

I didn't read through article but does this include Castle sponsoring a cricket match?

Well now we can safely assume all alcohol related crimes are over and done with! You know, just like banning cigarette advertising stopped people from smoking and that smoking among teens has RISEN since the advertising was banned?

Happy days!

Don't forget the jobs they created by companies that specialize in these ads, SABs entire advertising staff will also be fired, say bye bye jobs. Then we have all those sports team both national and emerging that are gonna need new investors/sponsors.

Still this is the SA government we rather cut off the head and tackle 2 more rather than tackle the actual beast, or in this case educate ze masses.

On the plus side, no more drinking responsibly since that little clause that appears on every ad is also gone so we can all start binge drinking :D

Agreed. I would rather see them enforcing the existing legislation and pulling drunk drivers off the road; locking them up for a night or two, suspending their licenses, hefty fines and name & shame them too. Advertising isn't the problem. Eish!

I think that you can assume that it would be a problem. It's logo in any format would possibly be construed to be advertising in its simplest form. Many sports will suffer in the process. Poorly thought out by these circus clowns.

Another utterly misguided effort by our eminently useless ruling party. They could be fixing the bloodbaths we call public hospitals...but no they need to ship tablets to schoolkids that don't need them and regulate advertising....
