British MP links London bombings to Modern Warfare 3

Further proof that anti-gaming campaigners are idiots.

Mr Vaz is also too old to know any better.

Yes, MW3 is responsible for the bombing in 2005, also it causes global warming and was the catalyst for the first world war... :/

Bwahahahaha!

Funny story I was in the UK during that period and today I travel on the underground every single day and at no point do I think "Damn these games some one is going to use them as template to blow up a train"

o.O

I think it's rather worrying the a British MP can link this to a bombing in 2005. I'd expect something as stupid as this to come out of the mouth of an African politician, but not a British one. I mean, not even MW1 was out in 2005. If I remember correctly, CoD2 came out that year, and that can't really be linked as it was a WW2 game. :<

Yeah but Call of Duty 2 caused the Second World War.

I thought it was Call of Duty 1.

Age of Empires caused the Hundred Year War :p

Well ... it's all been sorted now - we know games are to blame for all the biggest cock-ups in history :D

Just to point out that it is "linked to..." and not "cause of..."

as in kiddies can do things similar to such events in a 'play' setting and possibly result in future problems.

But yeh, the above comments are hilarious :D

True, but in all fairness, you cannot link things backwards in time. What's coming next I wonder - they're going to blame Civilization 4 for the Crusades? Because, like, there were prophets and stuff - so, there must like, be a link.

Then again, that bloke looks around the right age to have been smoking weed with the hippies in the 70s, so I'm not going to act surprised anymore.

Linking can be in any form. He isn't blaming the game afaict but rather saying that you can act out scenes of recent terrorism.

But really, saying games are the cause and not just correlated to acts of violence is ridiculous. These people would likely do something bad in their lifetime anyway and just because they happen to play games doesn't mean that games made that person do anything.

I find it funny that they blame a religious extremist terrorist to a video game. Does this game somehow inspire religious extremism?

Do extremist muslims sit playing CoD for inspiration? Maybe we should stop blaming religious extremists and call them CoD extremists :D
