How do I find out the speed of my CD/DVD rom? I've looked for it in the control panel, but I can't find it
 
i think if i remember correctly nero has a program called nero drivespeed or something like that. sisoft sandra also has an optical drive benchmark feature

I tried the Nero program... Didn't know wtf was going on. I would've expected Microsoft to have this info somewhere
 
It does, it gives you the model number and sometimes the firmware version. Then you google that.
