Diablo III refund refusal leads to Blizzard office raid

PS guys: The fact that Blizzards passwords aren't case sensitive could mean that they actually save clear text passwords. Which is a big no no.

The one-way hash algorithms used for most password storage are all case-sensitive.

There is however an off-chance that they are smart enough to perform a ToLower() or ToUpper() operation before calculating the hash which would then mean that they wouldn't have to store the clear text passwords for comparison.

As a precaution I will be changing my battle.net password and improving the strength of my email account password that is linked to the battle.net account. I suspect it's only a matter of time before Blizzard becomes the next Sony.

Oh and Joker your topic has been deleted!

Oh yeah I noticed it, I also emailed then asking for an explination and I am still waiting to get a reply.
Honestly I hope Blizzard goes down in flames for this.

All I can suggest is to change you're password on a daily basis guys and running spy bot search and destroy on a regular basis as in 4-5 times a day. I haven't been hacked yet..but I feel as though its just a matter of time...
I don't even wanna play anymore..

Yep I will be changing my password again tonight. Already changed it last night. I am now just waiting on Torchlight, once that is out I doubt I will go back into D3.

That sounds like too much trouble to go through just to play a game :(

I'm not sure what changing your password on a regular basis will do, at least not that regularly. In fact changing it too frequently often leads people to adopt poor security practises because they struggle to remember all the hundreds of passwords they have used.

Rather set up mobile alerts and if you want, link an authenticator to your account. Use different, easy to remember but strong (upper, lower, numeric, special characters, 10+) passwords for each service. Don't go to dodgy sites or open dodgy emails and keep your AV up to date.

That is all you can reasonably do to keep your account safe. Changing your password every 15mins isn't going to make your account any more secure.

If you can't remember what you're passwords are right them down..so simple.
Im not saying change it every 15 minutes, I do it once a day.
Also I have a feeling it has nothing to do with the users, I have a feeling Blizzard either had a leak of user info and they are not owning up to it, or there is something wrong with their network arch that is a security flaw and hackers are exploiting it.

I'm not changing my password again, it's just stupid this this is the only online game I play where this is a thing. If I get hacked I get hacked, I use the authenticator and that with my fairly long password should be enough.

Changing your password once a day will do nothing, if your pc was compromised yesterday, it will be compromised today. Only change your password as a result of a stimulus, like you click on an email by mistake or something like that.

Just changing your password all the time is like having your bathroom flood and you just keep mopping up the water but never turn off the tap.

Yeah but incase you didn't read my other post, I also Scan with Spybot search and Destroy at least 4-5 times a day.
I also play on 3G which changes my ip every time I log off.

These are all small steps you can do and its not like its anything hectic.

Anyway I am still saying Blizzard either had a leak or their network arc is fucked.
