A US judge ordered director James Cameron to hand over drafts of the screenplay for "Avatar" Wednesday, to lawyers for a man claiming he wrote the script on which the 3D blockbuster was based.

Eric Ryder is seeking compensation from Cameron and his production company Lightstorm Entertainment, claiming that the 2009 Oscar-nominated film is based on a story he wrote called "K.R.Z. 2068."

While Cameron's at it he should probably fork out some cash to Disney for Pocahontas and Enid Blyton for The Faraway Tree.
 
Jeez this story is still going on?!?!?! :wtf: I thought they would have settled since this came up in 2011.
 
The film that they made wasn't even the original script for Avatar. Can't remember what the link was but the original script that Cameron wrote was said to be fair bit different to what the studio wanted which is why he changed it to what it is.
 
Taking inspiration from is quite a bit different to stealing. Considering the Avatar's plot was probably it's weakest element, WHY would you steal something that generic?
 
Whatever the case may be, even though it's a rather delayed case; that movie was damn awesome!:D
He did the script a favour creating Avatar.
 
Hollywood steals everything these days. They're so out of ideas that they keep recycling 80s films and TV shows. Heck, they keep recycling material from the last 10 years! Just throw the word "reboot" around and you can justify your unoriginality.
