District 9

Looks better than anything else I've seen recorded by a South African. I think it might be worth a watch but then again, I strongly believe South African actors suck.
 
I don't like that guy interviewing the *thing*, but apart from that I thought it was pretty good. Apparently Neil Broodkamp, the director of this movie, was supposed to direct the Halo movie for Peter Jackson but they dropped the funding because Peter chose him and he wasn't experienced enough. Maybe this'll convince them otherwise.
 
Well, it does have some pretty cool things in the trailer. The space ship looks awesome, way better than anything I'd expect locally. I trust they'll find some good actors for it, so who knows? I think it'll be worth a watch.

The interview with the alien also seemed cliche'd at first, but it makes more sense when you know what he's saying:

"When asked 'Why are you here?', the alien answered 'we didn't land here on purpose, we had no choice'

When asked 'Why don't you leave?', it said 'how can we go anywhere if you have our ship?'

When asked 'How do your weapons work?', it said 'We mean you no harm - we just want to go home.'"
