DotA 6.73 released finally, after nearly a year.

lol - sorry guys. I guess I shouldn't gloat since I too was in the same boat. You guys should be on the lookout for competitions on playdota.com and enter those. My friend won and gave me a key, that's how I got in.

I have DOTA2 too!

Which has ported all flaws from DotA. Also the so called leaver protection system is utter fail...

Well, I don't think it's fair to judge the new penalty system yet.

For starters; it allows you to reconnect to the game. In most cases where I've dropped from a game of Dota, it was caused by a modem glitch or my PC overheating due to our lovely summer evenings. Now with Dota 2, I get the chance to reconnect to the game and don't cause my friends in my team to play against uneven odds.

As for players that DO disconnect on purpose - well - they get a rating for that and they get flagged. When they try to join another game it will throw them into a low-priority pool and it can take up to 30 minutes for them to join a game. At the moment this is only in beta, so I have a feeling that once the game is finalized the penalty system will be just and relevant to the person's behavior.

The OTHER thing which is nice about Dota 2 is that it's a LOT easier to report other players for abusive language or game-ruining tactics. Those players will, I'm sure, also be punished accordingly.

Once the leveling system comes into effect, players will be thrown into a pool with players of the same level as them, making for a MUCH better gameplay experience. No more level 5 guys trying to beat a team-stacked side consisting of level 30+ players.

Dota 2 is excellent. It's the original Dota with a complete sound and visual overhaul. PERFECT.

I do not really think you know what trolling means...

Also, who even still plays dota! :)

Also, on topic, yeh dota 2 really seems to be exactly like dota with better gfx. Felt the same while playing it.

It doesn't take 30 minutes to find a game in low priority pool, it automatically skips to high priority pool after a while.
Also since there's so many leavers that pool is has become well populated, so 8 leavers could find a game relatively fast with 2 extra players added from the normal pool...
So essentially you'll still be playing with leavers!

Another issue is that if your busy winning a game and someone abandons the game, you don't get that win. The leaver in your team? You also don't get win, you can only get the loss...

The amount of quality games I'm having in DOTA2 is extremely low compared to that of HoN atm.

If you're playing with random international players then I agree, your team quality will be rather poor. You'll either be in a team that OWNS or in a team that completely sucks. I found the solution to that was to join the South African channel, make some friends, and play with them. South African DOTA players seem to be a lot better than most international players, bar their poor language of course.

As for quality teams, you'll only really start to experience proper matchmaking once the game goes public and the level system is used. At the moment, it's a mixed bag of amateurs and experts - you'll never know what you're going to get.

I HoN the team needs to vote in order to surrender or concede. In DOTA2 that is determined by one leaver. It isn't about the quality of your team, it's about having 5 vs 5 matches that's properly concluded.

For instance I don't want to waste 15 minutes fighting a passive team afking at fountain. That isn't my idea of fun.
