Dragon Age: Origins DLC failed

Hey forum.

I'm having trouble downloading DLC or DAO.

It shows as DLC in the Downloadable Content section -- but download fails every time I try to download it.

What's more -- it indicated that I need "Required Game Version 1.0".

Can anyone help. Not getting much help on forums elsewhere.

It's a retail copy. Got it with the purchase of a controller.

You can link the serial to Origin, if you like. Then at least no more need for a disc.

I'm not sure how you got the DLC (I suppose you downloaded it in-game?) but downloading the files from the website is much faster/easier, especially if you use a download manager like DownThemAll for Firefox that can segment and download the file in multiple parts.

Although, that's my experience. I get about 500kB/s down from the BioWare servers whereas I get full-speed from the EA servers. You'd think they'd be the same. Go fig.

Don't know why I didn't think of redeeming it through Origin. Thank you very much, Lycan.

I don't think you can redeem a retail version of DAO through Origin. Could be wrong, though.

Can. I have :)

Because it's Origin and it works for shit.

Just to clarify, you can't download the DLC via Origin either. And DA:O will be downloaded as version 1.0 and will need to be patched. And if you have Awakening (the expansion) as well, then you'll need to install that before you patch it otherwise everything will break.

Origin. Sucks. BUT, it means no need for a CD, so whatever :p

It is possible to download the DLC outside of the game - and having it work in game.
social.bioware.com allows the consumer to download the DLC and using the daupdater located within the Dragon Age - Origins folder - allows the player to install the DLC using that Content Updater. Whereby preventing needed it try an download it through the game's download manager.

I linked you to that earlier but yes, you can do that too.

I just meant that it irritates me that we can't download it through Origin when we download the game through it. Origin also just downloads an installer rather than, like Steam, do a clean install as it downloads.

Downloading from Origin is much faster (for me, at least) than it is to download from the site. The social.bioware.com site has a limited upload of like 500kB/s per thread, which is why I suggested using a download manager that can multithread the downloads and just download them without you having to eyeball them.

What irritates me is that Origin doesn't download the DLC--it's not listed, it's not an option. It's actually more feasible and simple to just buy DA:O Ultimate on Steam and be done with the schlep altogether.

Sulcher's Pass doesn't appear on my map even though I have the Shale DLC enabled.
I need Sulcher's Pass to be there in order to continue on the quest to get Shale, but it doesn't appear.
Any tips?

That's what I meant :p

Don't know where or how to delete these files, so I instead just installed again, hoping it would fix the problem - it didn't. Maybe I'll happen across it on my travels. For, I'll just be bothered with continuing on the story.

The Stone Prisoner one is the dao_prc_cp_2 folder :)

Can try moving the folder somewhere first, start the download for the DLC, close the game, copy it back, start up the game and see if it fixes it? Otherwise it might be best to just download the DLC from scratch while you play and get to it later?

But yeah, really stupid system :(

Edit: Or you can download the standalone DLC from: http://lvlt.bioware.cdn.ea.com/biow...e/content/DAO_PRC_CP_2/DAO_PRC_CP_2_1.0.dazip (https://social.bioware.com/user_entitlements.php) if you haven't done that already.

Thanks for the help, Lycan. :)
I will try this tomorrow. Played too many hours today as is anyway. :D

Any time. I hope you come right. Stupid bugs like that are never any fun.

Primary reason that the next time I play the silly game, I'm skipping the trouble and going to just get the Ultimate Edition on Steam.

Good luck :)

Downloading it through Origin -- perhaps the downloaded version won't give as much trouble.
