I guess the point they are trying to make is that games are more immersive ... hence the possible effect.

I agree with your analysis; We would need a comprehensive report on the findings of the experiment to form a proper conclusion.

I'm not really sure what to make of the study, to be honest. Maybe I' misinterpreting it, but it seems to me it's just saying things we already knew; people who have things to show off are going to do more to show them off.

Pretty people are more likely to try and show off their looks the same way that people with more expensive/attractive cars are more likely to show of their cars. It's the way of the world. People like to show off.
