Final Fantasy XIII-2 critic reviews

As a noob to Final Fantasy, is it recommended to get FFXIII before playing this? [PS3] Based on reviews of the previous installment is seems that it was quite flawed in a few ways, but on the other hand the story obviously continues from there I assume.

Any feedback on this will be appreciated.

Yeah, it's gonna be a mission and a half (especially considering how long these games take) but I would recommend playing Final Fantasy XIII. The characters are all linked up, and you'll likely miss a lot of references in XIII-2 if you haven't played the first one.

Think about it this way, though, it's only 40+ ours of your life, so if you start now, you might be able to finish it by Friday :D

Final Fantasy XIII, with all its linearity and craziness, is still a great game; it's not Final Fantasy as fans know it, but on its own it's a pretty awesome RPG, with really high production values - and one you really get into it, it's really fun.

Some of those 8+ scores have seriously scathing words to go with them, mayhaps someone should remind them that 8/10 is supposed to be a good score?

Ah well, anybody able to elaborate on how they handle the Snow relationship with the new protagonist? I mean do they just pretend he never existed or do they actually establish why he isn't around (when he spent the WHOLE LAST GAME SCREAMING HER NAME) and is totally cool with her hanging around boywonder all-hours? Just makes me feel a little cheated about the romance in FF13, but I suppose they *could* have handled it well....err....somehow.

The monster hunting in FFXIII-2 is probably the coolest feature. I'm sure I'll spend hours searching for the strongest one.

I wont lie.. snow was my favourate character in FF13.... The rest were all... Depressing. I was hoping he'd make a bigger impact in this game but alas...

Also... Does anybody else think the transition from Text based FF to Voice Based FF made the games less 'Novel' like and more 'movie' like? Its like the stories dont go into as much detail as they used to... I miss the days when FF captured you with intense plot depth and not just... Graphics.

Im a FF fanboy but its.just.not.the.same. :(
