Galax Graphics Cards...My thoughts

Is it AMD or is it the Card manufacturer and does Galax only do nvidia? Cos i'm looking at 2 option Joker the AMD fx 8350 chip with the 970 or the Intel Core i5 4590 CPU with the 970

Well the i5 would be better in some scenarios.
I would opt for the i5 + the GTX970

Thanx for the feedback on yes that board don't know why the guys that quoted me gave me a ZH part number, now to see if i the guy is taking my old rig

If anyone is interested, my card is up for grabs.
I'm moving on to a Reference card for now, going for a smaller setup and non ref cards just don't run well in smaller cases.

My card is def a fine example of the breed and I'm looking for R7000 for it
Comes with full packaging and warranty.

Joker i have to ask about the coil whine on the 970 any feedback on the one you had? i'm looking to get one in a build i'm doing for someone and don't want him returning it later

Coil whine on the 970? I googled it now and saw there are some complaints, but I haven't heard anything at all from mine. Granted, my case does stand on the ground behind my desk.
Coil whine is something most (if not all) high end GPU's experience to some degree though. Isengard can also give his input, he has the same card as me.

My Galax 980 had no coil whine but my current Asus GTX980 ref card has insanely bad coil whine, so bad I might try get it swapped out lol.

Coil whine is luck of the draw, it does seem the nvidia 9xx series cards do have more coil whine than most but its almost impossible to tell without physically testing each and every card.

Mostly talking about the 970 because i have read and heard some people complain about it and tbh i have never heard coil whine on any card i have so i don't even know what to look out for(listen)

It's on a case by case bases with the 970's. Some unfortunately will have coil whine, while my card is really quiet the next one in the batch may not be. You really can't make any guarantees here.

The coil whine in Jokers video is an extreme case situation. Even if the 970 has some whine it won't be anywhere near that loud.

Glad i have never heard that but joker have you experienced it on the galax while you tested it?

I never experienced it on my Galax card. Also as Isengard pointed out that is an extreme case...like the 1 I'm having with my Asus GTX980 lol

Yeah, No one can guarantee that a card is coil whine free, each card is different, the only way would be to buy a used card where the owner can vouch for it having no coil whine.

I have to say both my 270's are amazing besides for the fans i have running at 60% if they are awesome love those cards, but thanx for the feedback on those guys i'll have to make a decision some time
