Good PC gamepad

Can anyone recommend a decent wired gamepad that isn't going to break the bank, but will still be enjoyable to use- without huge deadzones on the analogue sticks etc. The only one I've found so far is the raptor lg2 at incredible for just over 320, but I can't find a single review.

I second the Microsoft gamepad. I have one, even though I don't like using gamepads (bought it for friends to use while playing 2 player games) it comes highly recommended by, well, everyone.

Looks like the rumblepad is discontinued- no one seems to have it.
Looks like the xbox controller is getting some love here. Bit more than I wanted to spend, but it may be worth biting the bullet on this one.
Thanks for the recommendations.

One question the Kalahari description says:

Platform:
Xbox 360
Accessory type:
Wireless Controller

I take it that's wrong?

Wireless? Xbox 360 only? I thought the 360 controller was PC and 360 (both being USB) I didn't see that. Just did quick browsing and happened upon that. Picture is misleading.

You could maybe have a look at other online retailers.

Here's another from Wootware for PC or Xbox.

yup, I was in the same situation as you and everyone recommended the xbox360 pad. Its unbeatable, best game pad ever.
If it doesn't come with drivers in the box you can easily download them. I also got mine from kalahari.

Check out Matrix Warehouse, they don't have any on their site but I know they were pretty cheap there, or at least when I used to work there.

For wired, I would recommend the Logitech F510 @R344 http://www.rebeltech.co.za/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=41&products_id=2667
It's got the PS style analogue sticks. The tension in the sticks is better than the Razer onza and has very little dead zone.

For wireless, the official MS xbox 360 for R400 at BT games.
Only reason I prefer the Xbox 360 controller over any other controller, is because some games are stubborn and insist on the user using an Xbox 360 controller. Otherwise, finding software or configurations files to get "generic" controllers to work can be a damn mission and a half (I would know).

But still, I need a controller again. Don't really bother with racing games anymore as a result of not having a controller.

There is also xpadder and Pinnacle Game Profiler. Quite awesome tools if you want to map keys to your controller!

Win 7 picks up the Logitech F510 without the need to download any software drivers. :)
Also the games I've played detects it as an xbox controller without any hassle. To name a few SFxTekken, Batman AC, Skyrim, Bastion, Darksiders. Not a big racing game person, so not sure about racing games :P
