I knew this day would come. I can’t say that I hoped for it, but in all honesty, it was inevitable. Apple has been very busy lately in doing all it can to ban as many Android devices as it can, and HTC, Samsung, and Motorola have all got a small taste of the Apple juice lately. But something has changed: Google now owns Motorola, and aren’t wasting any time in defending their new acquisition, as they are now seeking a sales ban on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac computers in the US. This time, it’s personal, and contains a twist that could make this particular lawsuit a very dangerous one for Apple.

Not gaming news but..Its pretty HUGE.
 
Man I hope Apple burns for this. Not that I have anything against Apple...but this patent bullshit has to stop & a big player going down hard would certainly help with that.
 
Apple need a wake up call. They have been calling the shots for too long. Competition is good, Steve Jobs wanted to dominate the market with an iron fist. Apple deserve to be smashed over the head now.

can someone explain

Its doesn't seem to be clear at this stage but after poking around the internet a bit more it sounds like apple have infringed on a Motorola patent; something to do with wifi.
 
Goign on the general response from around the net...90% of the people are happy about this...seems like the sheep that follow apple blindly also agree with this xD Anyway lets see how this unfolds..If this does ever get to court apple will be recieving a beating of note..they have been stirring for a long time..trying to get samsung and htc banned because of so called patent ingringments.

Lets see how they cope when they have the might of google and samsung kicking their ass.
 
I'll be grabbing a bucket of popcorn and will be ready to enjoy the show.

The patent wars will be looked back at as period of collective stupidity - much like copyright in publishing - oh wait, we still have stupid copyright laws in publishing - we are going to live with this for a long time to come.

/Wonders how RandomGamer would feel if he held a copyright for a novel or other media product and was actively loosing $$$ due to copyright infringement.

I do hold a copyright to a Novel and while I am lucky enough not yet to have had it infringed upon I will tell you that it will piss me off if someone else was making money off my idea/work.
 
I can not exactly remember the source, but Apple seemed to have infringed on tech relating to Siri and some Notifications (that is the only 2 that stuck in my mind). But there were a bunch more on the list, guess we will just have to wait and see what it boils down to exactly.
 
Honestly I find this whole game somewhat childish. They should all stop taking each other to court and continue to focus on making innovative hardware and software.
