Google launching YouTube rival to Twitch

I honestly think its a no brainer for most streamers to switch over to this... Most of if not all streamers end up making vids they upload to you tube anyway, surely this would just make the process easier?

The only problem I see is that a lot of people have subscribed to their favorite Twitch streamers with real money. If the streamers start switching over people would get pissed off. Then of course there's the terms and conditions that streamers would need to follow. And finally Google and YouTube aren't well known for paying content creators that much. If it's financially more feasible to stick with Twitch this will fail spectacularly.

Does google not own twitch?

They wanted to but Amazon got the drop on them.

Toxin I hear what you saying, but i dont think Google will be stupid enough not to match twitch, or better it, from a financial point of view... And as far as i understand the Subscriptions only last 1 month... And what is stopping guys from streaming on both platforms until they know which one is better?
MetalSoup I love that function! One of my biggest gripes with Twitch is that you cant pause and pick up where you left off...

Just checked it out... Wow its cluttered :wtf:

Its so full of crap i could barely see what was going on... No where near as user friendly as Twitch...

all and all it's just a far superior platform. Their video compression is so much better than Twitch, and the way the browser handles the data transfer is so much better. I battle to stream at "high" on Twitch, which seems like 480p, but I can seamlessly stream 720p60 on YT. Plus there's no artifacting.

Same here. I also battle to get a stable stream on Twitch.
Youtube is way better.

Some major issues they need to sort out before any streamers would actually consider using it over Twitch. The main issue being the content ID flag that can potentially disable someones stream while they are streaming http://kotaku.com/youtubes-approach-to-copyright-claims-could-scare-off-s-1726757133. The other problem is the lack of subscription button, streamers can't realistically do this for a living off ad revenue.

As far as streaming quality goes - yes youtubes is way better looking and streams much more consistently, but I doubt Twitch is resting on their laurels and not working on improving their streaming quality.

That's true, if they can deliver a better quality (sounds like it) and they drastically change the UI (....damn it's bad  :wtf:) then it will be good. We'll see how many major streamers switch over and decide to stay.
