Graphics card upgrade?

Hi.. My first time posting on these forums :). I was wondering if it is worth it to upgrade from a Nvidia GeForce 8600GT to a Nvidia GT220?

My current PC specs:

Intel Core 2 Quad @ 2.4Ghz (Q6600)
4GB DDRII 667 RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate 32Bit
500GB HDD
19'' Widescreen
Nvidia GeForce 8600GT (512 MB)

A local shop is selling the GT220 for R999..

Worth it?
 
No, Hell No.

The GT220 is a rebranded, cut down, mess.

You can do much better than that for R1000.

Let me see.....

EDIT: I see that the 512MB GDDR5 GT240 is going for R932 @ Take2

And the Asus 1GB GDDR5 HD5670 which is better than all the rest, for R1080 @ Take2

But in all fairness, your GPU is definitely the bottleneck (maybe even the ones above?) , and saving up to maybe something better like a HD5750 or similar would be a better idea.

I can understand one tries to keep to ones budget, but are you willing to up your budget by R200 as Waco suggested?
