GTX 680 Reviews Rolling In

Yeah really awesome stuff from Nvidia..just one thing..When overclocked the cards are pretty much on par.
Seeing as Nvidia are running pretty close to max oc out of the box and most 7970's will do 1200 on air...Mmmm.

Still a win for Nvidia, I think if the 7970 price gets dropped to around $425 they'll still sell plenty of them..that said AMD have a 3 month lead, and they have sold plenty of 7970's and 7950's, so a price drop is def on the cards. Also Come April the 7990 6GB 768Bit is launching and from what I have been seeing Nvidia does not have an answer for that card, at least not this year.

AMD definitely have to react on pricing, no-one would take the 7970 at the current price over the 680. As for overclocking, HardOCP says that when the card goes into overdrive it sometime peaks at 1.2GHz.

GPU Boost is guaranteed to hit 1058MHz in most games. Typically, the GPU will be going much higher. We experienced clock speeds in demo sessions that would raise to 1.150GHz and even 1.2GHz in such games as Battlefield 3.

I'm mostly glad about the competition, now we just need some mid tier cards from them, the 660's and 670's.

yep price drop seems on the cards, imo thats how AMD will win its battle with Nvidia.

it is the only way.

Yeah the overclocking side they are pretty close.
AMD will drop the prices, that's just one of the luxuries of having you're flagship card available for more than 3 months before the competition launches theirs, they have sold plenty of 7970's as well so price drop will happen soon and I hope it drives down the pricing on their mid range cards as well.

If they restructured pricing like this:

7970 $450
7950 $380
7870 $300
7850 $250

It'll be fantastic, no matter how fast the 680 is, its only 1 card in the stable where as AMD have their whole range to play with.

Also wanna see the sli vs cf revies...I think the 7970 will scale a lot better than the 680.
Damn lol I am excited :D

7870 at $300 would make me very happy indeed. I'd very much like to get the 7870 over the 7850. :D

Mhm..

I'm hoping there will be price drops.

Either 2 x 680's or 2 x 7970's for me. Depends on the price.

Will wait another 3 months or so before I make a decision.

See what I meant about the ocing:

Also higher clocks can't be achieved without Evga EPower, which is another $100 on top of the price.
The more I look at it the happier I am lol My 7970's are awesome and the one clocks to 1310, so on oc'd clock there is nothing in it.

The only good thing that came out of this launch is that the 7970's will now drop in price and hopefully push down the price of the rest of the range. If you already have a 7970 there is def no need to sell and get a 680, just clock it and pawn :D

Also saw some CF vs Sli benchmarks and things are looking worse for the 680:

143672,143673,147071,147072,136493,133573,134539,134566,134562,123480,115839,133518,113521,108228,148853,148954,149481,149480

143672,143673,147071,147072,136493,133573,134539,134566,134562,123480,115839,133518,113521,108228,148853,148954,149481,149480

The 680's scalling is really bad vs the 7970's.

When exactly are the 7800 series cards officially going on sale? Our suppliers still don't seem to stock them.

I have a MSI 7870 Twinfrozr already. That was gotten through back channels though.
They are officially on sale in SA, stock will be available in the next 7 days.
