Half life 1 source

It was meant to be out this year. Not looking very likely anymore. Its called Black Mesa Scource.

What's a lie? That it's been in development for years? It has been in development for years. It's a few game designers and programmers that are doing it as a side project FOR FREE. HL Source was apparently quite poor so these guys decided to do it right. You should check out some of the later videos for this mod.

But its been going on forever. By the time it comes out the source engine will look as old as the first one:p
 
One thing, I played half life 1 recently after playing HL2 for years, and I have no cooking clue how the two tie in together. BUT i haven't gotten around to finding the 2/3(?) expansions.
 
The story of the expansions are as followed:
Opposing force-play as a marine during the shyt.
Blue shift-play as barney
Just diff prospectives during the first hl story
 
You kinda have to piece some of it together yourself. At the end of half life you can choose to join the gman or not. HL2 assumes you went with him. He puts you in C sort of stasis for a few years until you are needed again which is when he wakes you up and puts you on a train headed for city 17. Its not to hard to piece together. ''Rise up Mr. Freeman'' is quite a big giveaway from ol' gman dont you think?

Wait. what!?!? *goes and plays through again...* :confused:
 
There is speculation - but here is the long and short of it:

HL1, gman provides the sample the makes the cascade. This alerts the giant floating last boss of HL1 aware of Earth. So he teleports minions into black mesa - war breaks out. Ultimately Barney escapes, Shepard is locked away by gman. Gordon fights and helps the science guys stop the portal storm that was created from the cascade (the whole rocket mission), then they find that some large thing (last boss) is teleporting vorts in still - so you go after it and kill it. Gman takes you away and nukes black mesa. If you pay attention you'll see an image of those flying mind eating things from episode 2 in half-life - blueshift.

The story is that last boss in hl1 has enslaved the vorts to be an army for [we assume] the combine. You freed the vorts (you'll notice they are missing some "armour" clothes thing that enslaved them). Now that gordon is missing, the combine (knowing where earth is) open another portal storm (bigger than HL1) and invade, the 7 hour war happens, we epic fail and Breen (Administator from Black Mesa) hands over earth. Humans are repressed from making babies (reason there are no children) - science dudes from HL1 start to try and fight back, gordon arrives and single handly kicks butt in HL2!

I read somewhere that after ep3 there is no more episodes (then HL3)

Also, if you pay even more attention, you'll notice Portal game actually exists within Half-life universe. BlackMesa is mentioned in portal AND in hl2 ep2 links very strongly to portal too. I think episode 3 will expose more of this relationship.

Personally, I feel the ending of Episode 2 as the most powerful ending I've ever witnessed in a game. I stood up and left my PC, cursing valve for it. Looking back, it's brilliant! That's the reaction they wanted and it was brilliantly done.

The character you play with in Portal has alot to do with HL2E3, and its been said that you'll get the portal gun in ep 3 playing as Freeman
 
It's been a while since I played through HL1, but I think if you choose not to join the Gman, he teleports you to the alien world facing an alien army and then fades to black. Correct me if I'm wrong. I want a continuation on that story arc where Freeman single handedly pwns every alien, and then returns to Earth for cocktails.
