Have you traveled abroad?

Speaking of leave days (thanks Solitude), where have you guys traveled abroad?

I've only been out of the country once and that was when I was visiting a friend of mine in Namibia. This was also way back in 2006.
No other nifty travels for me. My wife hasn't been out of the country at all.

I'm also not very keen on traveling overseas any time soon with the little one, since even flying domestically from Joburg to Cape Town is a mission, and that isn't even 2 hours.

So any overseas travels will have to wait until he is considerably older (never mind actually funding the trip).

I've been to Zimbabwe, Botswana and Mozambique many years ago with my parents.

Then about 10 years ago I went to England for a couple of weeks. It was really amazing there.

My wifey and I were saving up to go watch the Springboks play in Japan during the next World Cup but since I stopped watching rugby we are now saving up to maybe go visit some countries in Europe.

Does Robben Island count?

I doubt it :p

Stupid rugby :) Going on a tour in Europe is probably a better way to go anyways.
Also, why is your name red?

Edit: nvm, I found the answer :D

 • Mexico
 • Brazil
 • Portugal

I think that's all...

I've been to:

Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique, Malawi, Czech Republic (obviously), Germany, Austria

The first four = Business.
The last three = when I was young.

In order of visitation:
- Namibia
- Mauritius
- Ghana
- Liberia

None of them very exotic as the moment you leave the resort / hotel you're in a third world country. Hoping to do Europe some day.

It's actually quite difficult to travel from ZA side to be honest (cost and distance) and is very dependent on personal circumstances & I'd suggest nobody try to compare 1:1 too much.

Actually got told today I'm going on overseas assignment (London & Tokyo & San Carlos USA).

Thus far:
Italy (Probably best "culture" destination)
Switzerland
Germany (Best fun - Oktoberfest!)
France
Netherlands
Wales
Austria
Mozambique (By far worst experience)
Namibia (was young)
Lesotho (was young)

And four others that I'll skip because it reveals too much about my whereabouts. :p

Greece and something else that I forgot is booked for May (Montenegro maybe?).

Ireland / Scotland / Norway / Iceland / Turkey is next on the list. Plus maybe something warm like Morocco or something.

- Mauritius
Wanted to take my sis there as a treat thinking it'll be a short regional hop. Holy f those prices. NOPE!

I'm currently abroad. The countries I've been to are:

Namibia
Zambia
Botswana
Mozambique
Lesotho
Swaziland
Australia - currently located here

The plans for my future travels include going to a bunch more African countries, South-East Asia, potentially Pakistan and Brazil. We'll see what the future holds.

Uk
Dubai
Turkey

Now I am helping my dad move to the uk and that will be it for sa for me.

Interesting lists guys.

I've been to 'all' the beachy Ms:
Mauritius
Mozambique
Maldives

US (Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine)
Swaziland (if that counts)

Hoping to go to Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales in the near future.

I know it's probably not part of the thread's idea, but my wishlist of places I'd like to travel to are:

Antarctica - I think it would be absolutely fascinating to see this true uninhabitable wilderness.
Norway/Sweden - Pretty much only for the northern lights. It's on on bucket list to see the northern lights phenomenon
America, specifically New York - I just want to experience it, see how wrong all the series and movies got it.

ive been to:

Swaziland
Zanzibar
New York
Cancun, Mexico

the last two were thanks to a prize the hubby won at work which was all expenses paid for him and we only had to cover half for my side of the travel

trying to convince the hubby to go to Vietnam for our 1st wedding anniversary but he is not budging at the moment(and he owes me a damn honeymoon) :D "whistling:
