HD 7990 vs RX 480

So I just sold my HD 7990. I can get a Reference RX 480 at a good price. can anyone tell me if its a upgrade,sidegrade or downgrade. Is the RX 480 worthit?

Not sure if there is a benchmark site that directly compares the two since the 7990 is quite a few years old now. Best i could do was this:

You get the benefit of massive reduction in power usage plus a much newer feature set. Given that the RX 480 pushes a GTX970 close in most benchmarks and beats it in DX12 / Vulkan tests, I would say it's a good step up.

Most important thing is the money you are willing to spend vs the resolution you want to play at. The RX480 will run any 1080p and most 1440p games totally maxed out. Is this good enough for you?

Yeah, no need for a faster card then, unless you plan to get a bigger monitor or a multi-monitor setup.
