The thing that should not be
I think my card gets to hot its a radoen hd 4870 it gets to tempretures of 72 degrees when playing newer games like batman is that normal it idles about 49 dagrees.
 
Its quite normal, both of mine pushes that same temp most of the time. I have a decent ventilation in my case so it gets rid of it easy enough :)
 
It entirely depends on ur video settings for ur games aswell.
The higher the resolution the more power it needs to push out to keep the fps up etc
 
That sound a lil low check if your fan is not set on manual, also set a temp warning and put on the safty feature if your worried that your card it running too hot for too long.
 
Thats on idle I cant change the fan speed. My fan is pretty good. it has a saftey feature.
 
I also have my a huge fan in my room to keep it cooler and it works lol.
 
well your lucky my card runs at 61'c on idle and gets really hot on load. luckly they gave me a program that I can set my fan speed on the gpu degree.
 
my radeon 7000 was freaking awesome with passive cooling and is still working today in a pc somewhere lol
 
lol I bought a gforce 8800 and that lasted til my current card best card I ever had.
