How much RAM can I support?

Hi
I'm looking to buy some new shiny RAM for my Semi-Gaming PC, but how much can my system support?
Specs:
CPU: Intel Core Duo 2.
MOTHERBOARD: Biostar G31M.
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
CURRENT RAM: 3GB.
LOOKING TO GET: 8-16GB.

Any help would be appreciated.:)
Thanks in advance.

What happened with the previous "how much is my pc worth" thread?

Anyhoo, your motherboard can only support 4GB DDR2 800 max.

I believe the G31 chipset and by extension the Biostar G31-M7 only supports up to 4GB of DDR2 RAM on a maximum of 2 DDR2 DIMM slots. It also does not support DDR2 modules larger than 2GB

I would say it depends on your financial situation. to support a family of 4 RAM will require quite a bit out of your monthly salary, this is RAM, not starving kids in Africa, so definitely more than $2 a month.
