Is Battlefield 3 worth it?

I want to get Battlefield 3. I think I have a 80gb Xbox 360 elite, so I don't think I'll have the problem with the graphics. But I'll only be playing the SP(no xbox live) and that's gotten alot of hate from critics. I just wanted to ask you if it's really that bad?

For just the SP I don't think it's worth it, there are better sp titles out there.

I agree, way better SP games out there at the moment. To answer your question - its exactly as the critics say. I doubted it as I often disagree with game critics, this time though they have it spot on.

It felt like they did it more to be in line with COD, where its mainly MP with an epic SP on the side, but they didn't achieve that epicness - it looks amazing, but its a bit dry. BF3 is a multiplayer game.. there are probably tons of people who'll never even fire up the SP to check it out lol

i think the SP is decent enough, but if you only going to play it for that then its not worth it. i think the sp is only 5-6 hours long. but i must admit, the sound in the game is unmatched. its the first thing i noticed about the game. every bullet and piece of cement that breaks can be heard. MP is incredible, so get xbox live and come join us man!!!

xbox live is R300 for 14 months at BT games.. :) well.. the one in menlyn.. its cheap.. :) so do iiiiiiiiiiiiit.. :) but if not.. DO NOT GET BF3 JUST FOR SP.. :) (CAPS should send the right message...)

Don't you need a good internet connection for Xbox Live? because I don't have one. (I use a modem-not even uncapped)

I don't know what dial up is (I'm a noob when it comes to stuff about computers)

I use a Iburst modem if that answers your question

iBurst should be fine, but it is wireless so your latency will be higher, but you can do it for sure.

BF3 is awesome. I am playing it on PC and really is a great game.

Done the test.. First result was 0.63 mbps. I tried it again and the result was 0.83mbps

Not bad for SA. (/Is so greatful for his 16-19mbps line)
Yeah it should work fine, try and stick to local matches though. International ones it might lag a bit.

I finished the SP over the weekend. It's not trash (think COD MW2) but it's not stellar either.

Basically it's a good time with a gun...most of it's been done before so on the SP side there's not really that much anyone will miss. I did notice that it was not easy at all even playing on "normal" or "regular" or whatever. I died a-plenty.

But, firing up the MP is a whole different life consuming bastard...cancel christmas and your next birthday...it will keep you entertained.

That'll be fine dude!!! So go buy BF3, and MW3 for that matter. Connect to XBL, pay the R50/month (or buy a longer subscription). You'll never look back.

:D I use Internet TV/TV on Demand services for my series fix (terra nova, Big Bang, Bones, Castle, House) How episode downloads in about 10min on a slow day, 5min most of the time. My boss has a 30mg line at home. I cant wait till my line gets upgraded.
