Laptop for Christmas

Can anybody recommend a good laptop with at least 6GB of Ram and a 3rd Gen i7 processor, and preferably blu-ray...
Sadly i have a budget of R9000.

Ya, kind of gaming, but a laptop like the Lenovo IdeaPad Y580, is a good all rounder...

Yep,i5 is cheaper and graphics cards in laptops usually aren't very powerful so there is no need to go for higher processing power(unless it's for extreme gaming)

I think Cheapest you going to get a Core i7 with blu ray is going to be towards the 12k+ mark.

Okay, rather let me say is i5 future proof or will it be useless in less than 2 years?
Whereas the i7 will still handle things well

Lets just say I still use dual core 2.53 ghz laptop and it still plays new games well so it will last for way longer than 2 years, mine is like 3-4 years old now and plays Guildwars 2 perfectly on high settings.

It wasn't even the best of the best but was still an expensive laptop (R18000 at the time).

Anyway I would wait till next year to buy one when prices drop and new CPU/GPU etc. come out
