Two cases of malaria reported in southern Johannesburg were likely caused by mosquitoes that were accidentally imported from malaria areas, the Gauteng health department said on Sunday.

"Although the Gauteng province is not a malaria endemic area, there have been cases where the malaria ...infected mosquitoes were imported into the province by people travelling from Malaria endemic areas...," spokesman Simon Zwane said in a statement.

Ya i heard the Mosquito's had more than likely been "packed" into a bag with someones clothing and then released once here... They Die quite quickly so it must have been quite unlucky for the person that got bitten...
 
I used to know a guy who died from malaria.Strange thing is he got all his shots before he went to the country and a month or two later when he was back in SA,he died.
