Microsoft expects to sell 5 million Kinect devices at Christmas

Microsoft has revised its projected sales numbers from 3 million before Christmas to 5 million. Might be a bit ambition but who knows.

This was all revealed in a tweet posted on wednesday.

Exactly. Just like the Wii was and the PS Move is being, it is a hype and MS is getting people to buy it on the hype and boohaa of the product. But spending about R2k on this is not worth it at all.

I really still think all these motion controllers are a load of crap. No matter how good they ever make it, it will never be good enough to my liking. Yes, it's personal, but that's the whole point.

its only R1.4K in the uk... maybe ill get it there.
 
I had pretty much made up my mind to get one, until I read the reviews. Now, I'm going to wait to see where the tech leads. I think that it has lots of potential, but the games aren't there yet, and the dashboard needs maturing, and some standardization. At the moment the only thing that is appealing is the voice command and waving to move to the next song and such, but R2k is too much for a glorified remote control
 
I'm not getting the Kinect. But please don't dis the PS3 Move until you've actually played a few games with it. I bought 2 controllers and I'm not regretting it at all. In fact, the wife and I will be playing some epic disc golf again this weekend.

So you have 2 wands? Do you have the navigation thingy also or just the 2 Wands? I tried Gladiator at a demo stand and was really surpised by how well it tracked the motions i made with my hand, even awkward ones. I know for some games, like the bow and arrow one you need to wands, is that right?
