Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection

I made some time last night and played MK1, 2 and 3 on the new MK Arcade Kollection available for download right now (800 ms points). after fiddling with some of the settings I stuck on the "arcade" filter which draws some horizontal lines across the screen to give that old-school CRT effect - hehe - I'd never thought that I'd prefer that look, but it adds some nostalgia and it also helps with the jaggies.

The games are arcade perfect ports. MK1 is great fun and the sound really brings back memories. MK2 is fast as hell when you've just played MK1. Again, the sound and graphics are arcade perfect, but might not live up to today's standards. Either way, if you're an MK fan who played the games when they were in the arcade, you'll appreciate what they look like. The same goes for UMK3.

For 800 points this is a bargain. If you're an MK fan it's a no-brainer. Or if you'd like to know where it all started and truly appreciate its evolution, download it ASAP.

p.s I played the games using my custom made arcade stick - it came into its own and I can now say it was worth all of the work that went into it. The frantic button mashing as you're trying to pull off sub-zero's huge combo on UMK3 just takes me straight back to the Saturday afternoons spent in the arcades as a kid.

So keen to get this, but I couldn't find it on PSN (don't have enough space on my Xbox) last night. Will try again tonight, apparently there was a problem with the store update last night.

so this was the reason why mk3 was withdrawn from xbla.

/get some ms pts for this :)
