MSI unveils GeForce GTX 1070 Quick Silver - South African pricing

It appears that it was initially a Asia-Pacific product, which is now being sold in other countries. Much like the RX 470D and the lesser known MSI 1070 DUKE.

But then why not price it accordingly for this market. I mean thats ridiculous

Welcome to the economical problems of Africa! Additionally it's MSI, they will charge more because it's a premium brand. Honnestly I will be happier with a cheaper GALAX/PowerColour/HIS or Sapphire card.

MSI are so over rated. Since they have become this enormous company, their build quality feels very very weak.

There in lies the problem. I will not claim to know a lot about the technology business. However, it seems that when a company gains a specific percentage of the market their pricing seems to be adjusted to match their ego or market shares.

Brand premiums are everywhere. Think iPhone, Nike etc. etc. etc.

I love my MSI hardware, thankfully I bought in before the hype train took off.

Very true, but iPhone is not much more expensive than a Samsung these days. The quality in stuff like phones from high to low range differ.

But go and have a look and feel how a Hall of Fame card feels. It feels solid, well built and attention to details. MSI Cards these days feel plastic and wonky.

I had a 660ti MSI, and LOVED it. The heat sink and everything was solid and extremely well built. Feels like their wheels fell off at around the 7 or 9 series :(

Well you say that but a top of the range Note 7 was going to retail at around R14500-R15000.
Top of the range Iphone is R21 000. That's a vast difference.

As far as MSI goes...Not sure how many people realize it but they lost their way once they started with their "gaming" range.

Sjoh, didn't think there was such a huge difference. And the S7 Edge vs the iPhone 7 Plus? Won't it be better to compare those 2 with each other.

Agree with you 100%.
When they started making mice and and and and targeted at "extreme gamers" as you say.

Mmm I think a S7 Edge is around the R12 500 right now and the cheapest IPhone 7 Plus is R14 600.
However a S7 32GB comes in at around R10 500, the Iphone 7 32GB is R13 699.

Yip, they even dropped the Lightning brand to focus on their "gaming" series.
They also don't compete in Overclocking events anymore.

Damn did not know there was still such a huge difference between the samsung and iphone!
The Lightning series is definitely a huge let down yeah.
What do you think of the Seahawks? Over rated? IMO might as well get a ref card and put a full waterblock on and pay cheaper than the hybrid cooled gpu. Or am I wrong thinking that?

I've personally got a Seahawk X.

Hate the plastic shroud...but it does it's job. I can maintain 2130-2126 boost clocks for hours on end. From what I've seen there's only really watercooled cards that can keep up with it. Not only that but the card is substantially quieter than any other 1080 I've used.

a waterblock for a founders edition is around R2000 minimum, then there is still the backplate and the cost of the card (Founders Edition is somewhere in the R13 500) So not exactly a cheap solution. Then there is obviously the cost of the loop ect.

Didn't take the Loop itself into consideration at all yeah. Those are some impressive clock speeds while the card remains stable!
