Next-gen console to PC ports need more power

I think that the way they are having their requirements future-proofed so as to avoid people complaining that their hardware is above recommended setting yet still experiencing issues. Remember FF XIV intial release. Requirements were ludicrously high yet you didn't even need tech that powerful to run it well. I saw the gameplay for Ghosts and whilst it was quite impressive; I highly doubt that it would need a 780 to run it optimally. If that was truly the case it would be cheaper to buy a console to play it on.

TL:DR? I call hax and scaly merching but we shall see

Great article Wesley!! I love how you described this moment as a renaissance for gaming, because it truly is. It is a shame that the PC has not been the prominent developing platform, but that's unfortunately how business work; you go where the money is. And the money is with the consoles.

Now what the new consoles have done is, to a degree, catch-up with PC hardware, which in turn has given game developer a much better hardware platform to work from. What will happen now is that for the next 2 years games will come out looking better than ever before, and will push PC's more to it's limit.

I also think that with the consoles matching the architecture of modern PC's more closely, scaling and porting to PC's will be much better than before. Some pioneering developers can even now develop on PC first-hand as the porting process will only become easier and quicker to do, saving them money and causing better games for us.

And then there are the hardware companies like AMD doing some awesome stuff like Mantle for the future. All these will only result in a win for gamers.

It truly is a very good time to be a gamer, and I for one can't wait for what the future holds...

Its surprising though, I always thought games look fantastic on computer. I don't mind consoles at all, but lately they're looking good, but hardware wise? They do have the benefit of long lives - easily 6-7 years.

Well sometimes games companies work with hardware dev's to get these so that they can push more hardware and get more sales and make more money and rip us off even more because some companies think gamers have an endless supply of money
