Norwegian mass murderer threatens hunger strike if PS2 not upgraded to PS3

21 Years for killing 77 people? Did he get a multikill bonus that deducts from his sentence? Most countries would just execute someone like that
That's honestly the biggest issue I had with this whole story. Let him have his stupid PS3 if he's there for life, but to only give him 21 years? That is the serious issue if you ask me.

Oh no, poor baby.

That this monster isn't simply locked up in solitary confinement, in a dark cell without plumbing and nothing but the occasional scraps of food to keep him alive, speaks volumes about everything that's wrong with the first world justice system.

yes I agree with you there but the american justice system is even worse. people that come in for petty crimes like theft might come out as hardened killers that will just end up in prison again after killing an innocent. Mass murders should be executed. But making a prison like a free for all just doesn't work.

As for this fool send him to syria :p

I'm with you man, but not about the Syria thing. I think some Middle Ages kind of sentence would be good. This sounds about right: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanged,_drawn_and_quartered

The average age of the victims who died was 17, so that's a minimum of 136 years (if you opted to keep the guy alive). I believe that detaining serial killers is the equivalent of caging rabid animals until they succumb to their illness instead of euthanizing them. I also became acutely aware of how good prisons in Norway were when following the Varg Vikernes trial many years ago. Honestly, if this is a prison, then their college dorms must look like a floor at The Ritz-Carlton. I await the day when families of victims (or even the general public) can go to 'farms' and 'hunt' murderers and paedophiles instead of wild animals ...

Next thing you know south african inmates will be requesting the same type of things or go on mass hunger strikes, hope they don't get wind of this. cos with our government they will most likely give into their demands without thinking twice

It's sickening/saddening to think that a guy like him who has killed 77 people actually even has access to a PS2 and only got 21 years when someone like Charles Bronson (Michael Peterson), who has never killed a single person in his life, has been kept in solitary confinement (sometimes inside a "hannibal cage" ) for more than 30 years and will probably never see the outside world again.

That's the justice system for you :/

Well in all honesty i really hope for the death penalty to come back to our country and yes 21 years for 77 murders is shameful. 21 years will never justify the losses those families suffered and is reminded of every time they see a picture and i wonder how all of those affected are reacting to this nut's demands now and what they have to say about it

I'm guessing a lot of them hope the government refuses and he can rot and pass on in jail. I wonder if the UN will step in if they refuse him?

Most third world countries. First world countries treat them like royalty compared the lot in our surrounds.

“You’ve put me in hell … and I won’t manage to survive that long. You are killing me,” he wrote to prison authorities in November, threatening a hunger strike and further right-wing extremist violence.

If only. If only.

Well an unfortunate side effect of the emphasis that western culture places on Self-Esteem and Individual worth is that the logical conclusion of this school of thought is that regardless of any action you may take; you are nevertheless deserving of being treated in the same manner as your most beloved neighbour.

Even If you murder 77 people.

why the fuck are they still making this okes news headline stuff? if he wants to off himself, have at it. the world will be a better place for it if let these fuckers kill themselves.

let's be honest this is the liberal ideal, kill hordes then get treated better than the victims. fuck that

In places where the death penalty is still in effect, who or what determines whether someone would get life imprisonment, or death?

What, if any, link might exist between aggressive behavior and violent video games remains a topic of debate. Some research suggests that it might delay "moral maturity," while others suggest that it improves learning skills.

Trust the media to focus in on that.

However, he also claimed to have spent four months ending through February 2010 playing "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" for six hours a day. And he said that game helped him practice using the aid of a sight and hone his shooting skills.

Jy praat kak, man.
