Wow okay cool ;-) I tend to keep my components for 18 months or so :-D but I honestly could not see a difference between the 8800 and the 4850

Yeah, it kind of depends on whether you benchmark or not, and what resolution you're playing at. At 1920 you will feel the difference between an 8800 and a 4850 - maybe not so much at 1680. Then adding FSAA and so on to the mix highlights it even more strikingly.

this is the high end part though right? maybe the trimmed part that will be released later will be made of pure win... and cheaper (doubt it will be cheap as chips though)
