The ANC says United States President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle should not accept Cape Town's Freedom of the City award, the Cape Times reported on Tuesday.

"To us this is nothing other than a diversion and I think it would be a pity if Obama accepted the award from a city that doesn't care about the poorest of the poor," ANC Western Cape secretary Songezo Mjongile told the newspaper.

Mayor Patricia de Lille reportedly made the decision to honour the Obamas...read more here: Obama, Cape Town award and a bitter ANC

If I got my hands on one of those anc shit talkers...aah thought keep running wild. Can only dream about it.

omg another trash talk by non other ... Really cant they just fix there own mess and not blame shift.

Standard ANC policy, cut down achievements of the opposition instead of doing something meaningful themselves.
DA had done more for the WC in 5 year than the ANC did in its entire occupation

When I was in CT, and other cape areas, I can honestly say it's been much better taken care of than the Gauteng shithole I live in. There municipalities are actually improving, infrastructure is improving, it's much cleaner, and overall service ( private and public instances ) is good. Here NOTHING whatsoever has been done to improve the state of things, we are just a milking cow for the government.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry, I live here and am so worried as to what the future will bring

depends on what areas of Cape Town you were in, some of the areas are really not in the best shape. Our Main Road for example from Muizenberg to Kalk Bay (a stretch of less than 10km) has had road works for nearly 5 or 6 years. It is a constant nightmare for road users and causes major traffic jams especially when people are on their way to beaches on warm days and work / home on other days.

The ANC are just sour cause the WC is doing so well and that they don't run it. Obama won't listen to them he is educated and civilized.

I think Cpt could have done well with something like the Gautrain. I've been there a couple of times and had to work in the city centre. It is a bitch during peak traffic as there is only one road in and out of the city or something like that.

We have too many wild "tanned" and darker pigmentation people who will probably burn it.

Although the business train is doing quite well in the WC, but I hope they at least consider bringing a train like that here.
