Obisidian to dev Dungeon Siege 3

Well we can hope that since the Dungeon Siege formula is pretty basic in terms of scope that Obsidian will have less issues when it comes to stamping out bugs. We can only hope.

Otherwise I am curious to see how they handle the action RPG since their lineage and specialty seems to be the very intricate RPG.

I never really enjoyed any dungeon siege. I found the games lacks something special

Awesomeness :D I love Obsidian, regardless of the fact that their games have more bugs than Joe's Apartment :p They are also working with Red Eagle Games on the Wheel of Time games. I can't wait for that, just hope they can make a game that does the books justice.

Obsidian is like GSC Gameworld. The games are normally great but the bugs hold it back. If they could pull of a ZBR (Zero Bug Release) they could well be on par with Bioware or Bethesda.

GET OUT! Bastard AGENT!

Dungeon Siege 2 was the kiefest game!

I'm going to friggen LOVE this one. Obsidian did a very good job of KOTOR2 - aside from the top brass putting pressure on the devs to finish it on time and rushing the ending. :(

I agree with Voicy, I loved Dungeon Siege 2 and I still have my copy of KOTOR II :D
Really interested to see what they have planned for DS3

I enjoyed it until near the end. The last few levels were meh.

I absolutely loved the puzzles and secret areas all around. As well as getting cool gear items...and most of all...dumping all your unwanted crap on the ground and transmuting it into gold!

hehe yeah, the bucket, the book and the robe.

I remember the book quest guy giving you some lame reward for doing all those quests - and then when you go back to tune him about it, he gives you the book. :p

I see Square Enix is also in on the project now :)

Square Enix announced today that it is partnering with Obsidian Entertainment on Dungeon Siege 3. With input from the original developer, Gas Powered Games, Obsidian Entertainment will develop the next incarnation of the Dungeon Siege franchise with Square Enix as the game’s publisher. Coming for the first time to high-def home video game consoles, Dungeon Siege 3 will be available for the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and Windows PC.

Dungeon Siege 3 is representative of Square Enix’s ongoing strategic partnership with Western game developers and its commitment to increasing its presence in those markets. The game will bring together the beloved aspects of the Dungeon Siege franchise with Obsidian Entertainment’s expertise, to create an evolved action-RPG experience. In addition to its arrival on high-def consoles for the first time, the game will also feature an all-new co-op multiplayer mode.

Originally created by Chris Taylor and his critically-acclaimed studio Gas Powered Games, Taylor will serve as an advisor during the development of the game. Dungeon Siege 3 will seamlessly blend intuitive action gameplay and a robust RPG system in an immersive world where every decision the player makes will result in consequences.

I am definitely interested in this one. I think DS was the last game I actually finished. I lack the attention span to finish most games. I am looking forward to seeing it on the 360.

Always been more of a Diablo 3 person really, but I enjoyed the 2nd one and I'm not one to judge a game before it's released. So yeah I'm definitely looking forward to it.

I see Square-Enix is really trying to get a foot hold with regards to publishing in the West. Just Cause 2, Sup Com 2, Deus Ex 3 and now Dungeon Siege 3.
