PlayStation 4 price and hardware unveiled

Seeing that it won't be region locked and that I will be in the US come November.... Time to weigh up the cost in $ and the cost in ZAR!

So much for PS having free multiplayer, but it's actually ok because I pay for PS+ anyway just because of the excellent value of the service, and it's still way less hectic than all the stuff coming with the XBone

What's with these butt-ugly consoles? Are we back in the 70's with plain square black furniture?

Might be ugly, but compared to the XBox it's a fair bit cheaper. Then again, I'm one of those guys who doesn't really care what a thing looks like - it's what it does what matters. And between the two new consoles, I'm definitely leaning in the PS direction right now, although whether I'll pick it up on release is debatable.

South Africa should get the UK version right? So that's 349 Pounds....... R5600* without any import costs or profit margin...... Fun times indeed......

*at the current rate of R15.97 for 1 pound

I'm pretty sure that price includes a profit for the retailer, just add import duties and VAT

If my memory serves me right, wasn't the PS3 much more expensive than the XB360 at launch in SA? I can remember going out and buying an Xbox just because I couldn't afford the PS3 at that time...

The 60GB phat PS3 at launch was $600, while the Xbox which launched a year prior was $400. So this is quite a turn-around.
