Police pay mechanic R1.29 million

A former Ivory Park mechanic has been awarded an interim settlement of R1.29 million after he host his left arm when police shot him, The Star reported on Tuesday.

Ntantise Daniel Taliwe, 37, reached the settlement with police, after initially claiming more than R10m in damages.

The matter never went on trial as the minister of police. in his official capacity, admitted total liability.

R1.29m isn't really a lot of money in compensation, considering this poor chap will probably never be able to work again.
 
R1.29 million for my arm... no way... I would not part with a finger for that price, let alone an entire arm...
