R10 000 gaming PC

Anyone can build a superlative gaming rig given a bottomless budget:
Getting as much oomph as possible out of what today passes as a fairly modest budget takes more thought.

A colleague has asked me to spec a R10 000 gaming PC for her son
as a reward for him should he get an A aggregate.

I think that the choice of CPU and graphics card are pretty important.
The case should be large enough to house something the size of an HD 4850, but doesn't need to look flash. I don't think it s necessary to get anothing more than a 500W PSU.I may opt for a 19" LCD to save some money and the mouse and keyboard will definitely be generics.I am considering Windows 7 Home Basic [32 bit] as an operating system and
therefore will not be considering more than 2Gb of RAM.

What are your thoughts and recommendations on this?

Thank you

//What I was thinking of last night was
CPU: Intel E7400
GPU:Radeon HD 4850
RAM:2Gb DDR2-800
Optical:DVD-ROM Drive
Hard Disk:500Gb Seagate Barracuda
Case:Anything reasonable which will accomodate a 4850
Monitor: 19 inch widescreen LCD
Speakers:Stereo speakers
Mouse and keyboard:Logitech OEM
Motherboard:Intel P43TF
OS:Windows 7 Basic

Terrible spec for R10k...

Give me a couple mins will arrange a better spec.

Thank you, Blaze.
When I did it last night, it came to around R7000, so I guess I do have
some room in which to grow it.

If you are quick enough, you can grab that 500GB cheaply from take2 : R 459 (free shipping for today only!)

Tsk....not only did he not get an A, he also failed.

Some people just don't know how to take advantage of incentives.
