Resident Evil movie guy explains why game movies suck

Also because some games really don't make very good movies. It is very hard to replicate the immersion of a great video game in a movie when you have a cinema full of people, people munching away on their popcorn and people chatting.

Also the other way around, good or great movies often make horrible games cause they not well thought out..

As for the topic at hand, there are way to many blanks in game to movie adaptations, and this puts the movie goer at a lost especially if they havent played the game or have a slight basis to what is happening. The Resident Evil franchise for example tried its best to explain things, but even i was confused at times with the gap in storylines... I love the games and love the movies to including the animation ones. I think game developers and writer need to sit side by side writing and the director should play the game and see what make it tick and try and bring that out on the Big screen.

The Resident Evil movies have all been pretty good. Of course Milla Jovovich helped.

Adapting anything to film or from film into another medium requires having a good feel for the essence of the thing, then making the necessary changes to make it work. And some games are simply too much of a stretch because the game itself has no real story.

Anyone talking during a movie should be tasered.

plus i think that the movie should not just be like the game, it should be based on the game but have a different story, and i have loved all of the movies that they have produced

Yeah, I'm taking Paul W.S. Anderson's self embellishment with a grain of salt, I'm still not happy about the AvP movie... Honestly the man has just as many (if not more) flops than successes so him criticizing every single other director who's attempted to take on a video-game movie just because he hasn't run the Resident Evil movies into the ground yet seems... wrong.
