Samsung's new Gear VR headset, by Oculus, is just $99

Not a bad price but I don't see VR taking off on mobiles. Got the Cardboard and it's cool for the first 10 minutes and when you show a few friends but other than that there's nothing noteworthy yet.

So its R1400 just for the thing that sits on your face

Off Topic:

A lesser man may have commented that for R1400 he could get something much better to sit on his face...... Good thing I'm not such a man..... "whistling:

So, anyone else gaming or playing with GearVr?

I have to say I am enjoying the stories more than the games although lands end is quite fun (but also short, so I am pacing myself).

I feel the same about cardboard, I check if there are any notable apps now and then and i'm not impressed with the new VR demo

Maybe they can use phones to lighten the load of the pc processes and connect wirelessly , although with current battery technology i don't see this happening anytime soon.

GearVR is a huge step up from cardboard.

I can and have spent hours on it.

It is still very very early stages though in my opinion.
We are looking at pc's cga vs led monitors here if you ask me but besides the promise these things bring to the future vr is great fun.

I have an idea in 5 to 10 years we will be seeing vr glasses with current infant technology like eye tracking (tobi), hand tracking (leap motion), and lenses you can wear all day and use for everything from optical zoom of reality to reading your email.

Battery is the concern, I have an idea that will end up working like bt headphones.

I know nothing about VR apart from the fact that Harmonix (I think) is actively developing for VR. Said it has got awesome potential for Rock Band.

Not even sure if somebody mentioned this before - Haven't checked *sorry*
