Seacom still down, company apologises

It's 11:47pm and Mweb still can't do international very well if anything at all. Where are the backup or some of the routing

I'm going to bed and leave be those be who make their ISP beyond reproach :D

Given the cost to install this line I'm guessing their back up is the old line which is now feeding its previous demand and current.

It sucks but systems like this can't feasibly have a back-up, if its their it has to start paying back its cost.

I'm currently using AfriHost's prepaid.

Maybe but Seacom serves Africa and its really linked to any ISP Brand. Its a line running Across the african cost linking to many countries, France through to Kenya, Cape Town and back up to India.

So while you be with Afrihost, Seacom is one line that is really servicing everyone and can't be individually funded by any single country even. When this goes down, it affects everyone down stream of the break. I'm not sure but I think their are only 2 other cables with the same job, so 3 cables serve africa.

Edit:
We have 4 lines for africa

Days like these should make us thankful for what we have...life without international access sucks.
