Bad news for Tiger Woods, Russell Brand and others who blame their wild behaviour on sex addiction: a new study by brain researchers at the University of California Los Angeles suggests that sex addiction is not a real disorder.

The study, published in the scientific journal Socioaffective Neuroscience and Psychology, examined the neural responses to pornography of 39 men and 13 women who reported having difficulty controlling their desires.

The study found that the...read more here: Sex addiction not real: study

Jip, just as I always said...it's not an addiction, it's called "being human without any self discipline or moral compass", and that's not a disorder.

I'm sorry I still believe in sex addiction, did they not use any other examples besides drug addictions.
There are different types of addictions, physical and psychological, surely they display different results in the thought process?

You are wrong bru. Our chief purpose in life is to reproduce - aka f*** . Just like animals. It's a natural way to ensure the survival of our species. Why do you think people in underdeveloped countries have so many children?

Yup. It's a survival mechanism. Every species of animal has it. Even the parasites, like humans.

Not really wrong, that would be true if the sole purpose of sex was to reproduce. However sex is great fun and it brings people together (well usually in the perfect world) and people can get addicted to the physical feeling it brings.

I think what seperates sex from addiction is that it is considered to be linked to impulsive behaviour and also nobody has any serious withdrawel problems when it is withheld.

Not to mention it's over rated. :D

I think the fact that it's "fun" for humans is because of elements brought into the activity that's linked to our emotional awareness as well as our superior intelligence to the other species on the planet.

So I think that kinda is its sole purpose. We just make more out of it than it is in reality. Which is not a bad thing, but it wasn't meant for us to be fun. Nothing in this world was "meant" to be fun, its what we make out of it.

If we didn't need to reproduce, we would have developed genetalia in the first place. :D

I think societal constructs stigmatizes our base impulses - things which we were evolutionary hardwired to do. So I agree with the above comments.
