Should games sell upgrades to skip the effort of playing?

wait they thought it would be awkward to buy two copies at $50 each, but then charge $60 for the boost. I don't know hey, but blizzard isn't the same company it was pre world of warcraft days. It seems like their focus has shifted to maximizing profit even at the expense of game play.

The more I see this the more games goes on my wait till they release everything for the low low price.
Ea games has been doing this for a while and people still buy it.

I have a great business idea. Why not release special "Gold" editions of games that only feature the cut scenes and the credits. Lazy gamers can buy it a finish the game within an hour or two without touching a keyboard or controller.
Just remember to charge $10 more than the regular edition or nobody will take it seriously.

Iv never played WOW, but from what I understand they generally increase the max lvl when they release an expansion with a new "story mode" whick kind of makes sense to me... You dont want to be playing a game for so much longer not lvling up at all...

Makes sense to me. I had the most fun with my maxed character. If I played WoW still I would consider it, I couldn't be bothered getting a 2nd character to the max level again. Very miss-leading title, considering there is tons of content once you reach the max level. I actually find the grind before the worse part about WoW.

If you want to skip the effort of playing you would probably be better off watching the latest series and movies.

If you have already done the effort once then I think you have earned the right to have a max level Character out the gate, (a New Game + if you will). However I cannot condone it for the people whom decide to do this off the bat.

I think people should be allowed to enjoy a game how ever they want. Personally the Grind in WoW is the worse part of the game, I think this is more a mistake on Blizzards part, its takes far to long to max your character, and they just keep extended it.

Ex-Wow player with 4 accounts and 3-8 toons per account and over 8 years of raiding. I would probably have payed for this back in the day, esp to get my dualboxing toon's up to the next cap.

Man it was a pain to do the same content/quests 12+ times after every expansion.

That said, the game has truly lost its appeal to me now, well actually the raid/dungeon pug finders did it for me. There was no longer the need to guild up to gear up. Oh and I missed the ganking.... waiting for people to use summon stones before a raid was such juicy targets. This microtransaction crap is just the cherry on the top.

7 years of playing for me.

My favourite days were probably WOTLK for sure. After LFR came in it dumbed things down too much.

I still play but I mainly focus on PVP now and i'll probably use the level boost when I preorder Warlords of Draenor.

I don't care if people want to skip the grind in certain games, I mean who am I to dictate how people can play a game and if the want false achievement.

However I'm against the idea because it will result in games being tailored to get gamers to buy the cheat packs, like with those Gems in Free to play games in which case we will be paying R500 for a shell game which will end up costing another R500.

Totall agree with this, though, I don't think this is a clear black and white issue. I hate the grind, and I hate the current leveling systems generally used. I find a lot of these games if your friends are a few levels higher or lower you can't play with them. I think this was one of the aspects i find much more enjoyable with the end content. Everyone is the same level and its not such a big issue.

I would have to disagree. Whilst it may be the worst part of the game(WoW) in it's implementation, grinding is a part of the MMO experience that is going nowhere.

As long as it doesn't affect me negatively, I have nothing against P2W. It's someone else's decision, who am I to dictate. In DDO we have Xp stones that can take you from lvl1 to almost lvl20 and then epic versions which can take you from lvl20 to lvl24 ..... still leaves 4 epic levels to get and end game content is all lvl28.

I enjoy my game as I want, let them enjoy it the way they want ...... plus, people that sink thousands are what keeps it F2P and new content being developed :D

Well actually with this, grinding has the potential to go away for some people.
